Yesterday was my birthday. I got a bb gun. Today was not my birthday. I got a show booked, a phone number, and a stomach ache.

Bear with me....I'm kinda rambling/writing a couple essays on something I read....deciphering shit in my brain by typing it out....my use of quotations is because I'm not going into my beliefs about religion etc....

I finished reading The Tao Of Wu. The RZA's book explaining how the Wu-Tang came to be and the philosophy/life lessons we should all know. Two things really struck me.

First, His belief in the 5 Percent Nation. Basically that only 5 Percent of People are enlightened. He tries to say that while the 5 Percent Nation is only really black people that know the 120 tenets that the philosophy entails. Some how he also explains that through the years he's excepted that all religions can some how still work within the 5 Percent Nation. Really it just seems like he changed his beliefs because he's smarter than believing that the only "good people" are 5 Percenters.

I have always had a hard time balancing religious beliefs and morals. Like some how we can be "religious" and believe in the tenets of a philosophy that is about making you a "better" person, and we can consistently break those tenets. When we break those tenets we just make excuses, or apologize and some how our "religion" says "it's cool." Obviously we're talking about a flaw in human nature that we make mistakes, and sometimes we just need a little back up to say "that's okay."

I just wonder why more people don't wake up in the morning and consciously say "today I will make no mistakes." I won't fuck anyone over. I won't hurt anyone's feelings. I won't let people around me make mistakes. ETC.

It seems to me that there is a big thing in the world today that says "let people make and learn from their mistakes." Rather than "lets teach people to not make mistakes in the first place." It all seems very backwards.

The second thing that struck me was his extreme guilt over ODB's death.

He tells the story of being in the studio hours before ODB died while ODB made him and his young son watch him smoke "his drugs" or crack. At the time he felt uncomfortable, but did nothing about it.

He talks then about how he wishes he had done something. Actually stood up and did something. Changed a pattern completely.

It seems like every "religion" has a belief that we should "share the good word." Tell people about our beliefs and help them to be better people. Yet so many people get offended or hurt by others telling them their choices aren't "good" or that others have a belief system that works great for them.

Seems to me that people forget about how the basic premise of all belief systems is to make yourself and the people around you better people. Of course we all have different morals and different places that we draw the line, and that's what makes people compatible and not.

So really it's finding out who you are compatible with within your own belief system. People shouldn't be so freaked out by others that just say "this isn't okay with me" and people shouldn't be so scared of telling people how they feel.

If anyone made it to the end of that....you have more patience than I do.

It's like if I was a black person...and you were my friend, but on the side you funded and advertised a magazine for white supremacy.

I haven't known life without All My Children. My Grandpa watched it before I was born. So did my Mom. She watched it all through her pregnancy with me.

Some how that show was just planted into my brain and my soul. I've watched it since I could comprehend TV that wasn't just cartoons. I've always had the adventures of Erica Kane, Tad The Cad, Dixie Cooney, Adam Chandler, Jackson Montgomery, and Uncle Porkchop to fall back on.

I've watched as Kelly Ripa was chubby and had black hair and was "goth." I've watched as Josh Duhamel quit, became a big star and married Fergie. I've lived through probably 20 marriages of Erica Kane. Tad's twin after he fell from a bridge and worked at a winery. All the drama of Janet From Another Planet. Sarah Michelle Gellar won an Emmy before Susan Lucci for her work as Kendall Hart. I once demanded somebody name their pet mouse Kendall Hart for no reason.

I remember when Brooke left. She just wasn't on the show anymore. She then came back...and disappeared with Adam again. I remember when Fusion was created. And Tempo Magazine. And Enchantment. I remember Erica and a bear.

When I watch All My Children at work...I'm able to tell whoever I'm working with exactly how everyone on that show is related and who they were married to and why the drama is what it is. I laugh when Greenlee comes and goes every 6 months. I could go on....

Today it was announced All My Children was cancelled. I'm in shock. I always hoped it would last forever.

I think the consensus is that no one gives a shit about how or what I feel except myself. Guess it's time to be selfish.

What's so hard about being selfless?

Look at me I'm so awesome. Seriously....look. Oh you don't want to look? Well, let me shove it down your throat!

I started building my owl. In my backyard. I think I'm going to put pictures up on another blog. Pictures of a giant owl and music reviews and stuff.

Maybe I'll link it at some point. I don't know.
